Rules of Skeet

Competitions will be open to entries from ESC members for at least two weeks before they are open to entries from non-members.

The jury at competitions will be chosen in advance by the shoot management and will consist of 5 members who will be present at the competition.  Jurors should have at least 3 years experience at shooting skeet.  All matters of complaint should be presented to the Jury, in writing, before the presentation of prizes.  A fee of £20 is required which will be refunded if the complaint is upheld.

The wearing of eye and hearing protection is compulsory for both competitors and referees at all ESC Competitions.

Complaints about the classification of a shooter on the basis of known ability should be presented to the Jury, in writing.  All those directly involved must be consulted.  A fee of £20 is required which will be refunded if the complaint is upheld.

ESC competitions must be held at venues that will accept entries from all ESC members except those who are banned from shooting clay pigeons in competition by any association that is a governing body of such competitions or by the management of the shooting ground or premises.

ESC Shoot Management may refuse to accept an entry from a shooter in a particular class on the basis of known ability until such time as agreement is reached between the Shoot Management, Jury and shooter as to the appropriate ability class.

If classes Ladies, Juniors, Sub-Juniors (12 years and under on the day of the competition) and Veterans are run, such shooters will be asked to elect between class and category.  Category trophies if offered, but not money or sponsored prizes, will be open to those who qualify for them but who have entered their ability class.

The target sequence, speed and rules will be as for English skeet with two exceptions.

  • 1 shooter in every 4 from each Class or Category will qualify for the Class or Category shoot off

  • A shoot off for the places in the final from a Class or Category will be held if there are no more than 2 qualifiers from that Class or Category

  • The final 2 from each Class or Category shoot off will go through to the High Gun final shoot off.

  • If there are 8 or fewer entries in a Class or Category then the qualifiers will go straight through to  the High Gun final shoot off.

Winners of other sponsored prizes will be decided during the shoot offs if necessary with a win in the High Gun final taking precedence over a win in a class shoot off.
